this is wonderful, thank you. it is indeed a bummer that old places evoke our trauma instead of all the lovely stuff they held. i've delighted in your prose since nothing but bonfires and was excited to learn you've embraced this venue, which does have that old friendly feel of the blog (throwing no shade on your NYT work, of course, i just like a nice chat). and your danny epiphany reminded me of when i watched sound of music recently and thought, how had i never before realized how smoking hot captain von trapp is? (and how staggeringly young rolf is.) ah yes, i am *refined* now. keep on keeping on!
